DEEP
canvas, original technique, 60х60cm
2023
Depth in this work does not pull downward or threaten with an abyss — it unfolds as a state of immersion, in which the eye gradually loses its hold on the surface and begins to move through delicate layers of light, water, and memory. Nearly the entire canvas is built from cool aquamarine, milky blue, and silvery shifts. Color here does not collide; it breathes: it spreads, becomes translucent, leaves lace-like traces, as if matter itself were dissolving and re-forming into something more fragile.
That softness does not mean calm. Within this transparent field lives the tension of slow absorption, when space does not press, but quietly draws everything inward. Pale flashes and subtle violet-grey inflections read like traces of something almost vanished, yet not fully gone. Depth therefore appears not as geography, but as an inner condition — quiet, slowed, and vulnerable. The work holds attention through that delicate uncertainty: it offers no fixed image, but creates an environment in which dissolution and presence exist at the same time.
