JOURNEY
canvas, oil, 20x18cm
2023
A figure stands inside a space that feels less like a landscape than like an inner cavity of memory. The dark silhouette is almost dissolved in its surroundings, and that is exactly why it holds the eye: it does not dominate the space, but exists within it as a point of vulnerability, silence, and concentration. Ochre, brown, blue-black, and muted red layers curl around the figure like walls, roots, vaults, or traces of time closing into a slow circle. The light at the center does not read as liberation — it creates rather a brief window of presence inside a dense, enclosed environment.
Journey here is not about literal forward movement. It is felt as a passage through an interior space where each step becomes an encounter with solitude, memory, fear, and the necessity of remaining within oneself. The small table and the warm light source on the right do not simply promise shelter; they underline the fragility of human presence. That is why the image is held not by event, but by state: the path becomes a form of inner concentration in which darkness does not disappear, yet no longer exists only as a threat.
